About Orisha Kennel

Orisha Kennel (pronounced OR-REE-SHA) is a celebration of our heritage and the African regions from which our breeds originated as well as our deep passion and appreciation for hounds. Located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, our kennel is home to a growing coterie of Rhodesian Ridgebacks and Azawahks known simply as The Farm.

Orisha’s principal purpose is to breed, show, and home the best hounds in the world. Show life is quite different from home life, we strive to breed hounds that thrive in both environments with families who understand and celebrate the unique characteristics of our stunning and loving dogs.

The dog show life is thrilling, competitive, and resource-intensive. For those seeking a show-level Orishan hound, it is imperative that you are prepared for the ups and downs of showing your hound, countless hours of training and grooming, and constantly attuned to the emotional and physical state of your Orishan hound. Not all of our Ridgebacks and Azawakhs are fit for the ring, but they are more than qualified for forever homes that welcome the rewarding journey and rare opportunity to raise an Orishan hound. We believe that the home brings out the best in the hound and the hound brings out the best in the home.
